4 ARTISTIC COLLABORATIONS

You might love an artist or designer’s work, but not be able to afford the cost of owning an original. That’s where artistic collaborations come in, and it’s why we love them. Applied to tableware, vases, chairs and more, these items are an accessible way to own something by one of art or design’s big names. To us, that’s quite appealing when we’re faced with the impressive but completely out-of-budget works on show at Art Basel in Hong Kong.

  • 1. LUKE EDWARD HALL X ANTHROPOLOGIE

    Luke Edward Hall x Anthropologie

London-based artist and designer Luke Edward Hall applies his fun, eclectic illustrations to textiles for chairs for Anthropologie. Hall has already worked with the likes of Burberry, Berry Bros. & Rudd and British store Talisman, and you’ll be seeing more and more of his work in future.

  • 2. LANE CRAWFORD X MULTIPLE ARTISTS

  • 3. CABANA X MODA OPERANDI

Each gorgeous edition of Cabana magazine is more like a coffee table book. Founded by Martina Mondadori Sartogo to celebrate interior design, lifestyle, buildings and more, Cabana magazine is always distinctive, with its own sense of style that we love for its eclecticism and original world view. Aside from buying the magazine, you can bring Mondadori Sartogo’s style home with her latest range of interiors products, a collaboration with online fashion retailer Moda Operandi.

  • 4. FAUX X KONSTANTIN BESSMERTNY

    Faux x Konstantin Bessmertny

You’ve probably seen Konstantin Bessmertny’s work before. Originally from the former USSR, he now bases himself between Macau and Hong Kong, and he makes gamblers, lechers and politicians the subject of his disturbing yet striking works. Some consider him one of the best living artists around – so it’s a fine day when you get the chance to own one of his creations.

Bessmertny has worked with Faux, a boutique homeware and rug company, on a collection of dinner plates: the Seven Deadly Sins. There are actually eight plates (one shows all seven sins, while each of the rest depict one sin each). Faux has worked with a number of other artists on tableware, check out their site for the full list.
