First popular in the 1970s, ikat has always been known for its fabulous, exotic vibe. It originally comes from in Indonesia, and is traditionally made using a technique that sees threads of yarn tie-dyed before being woven together. The print’s beautiful patterns and rich mix of colours are now having something of a resurgence, with this striking design applied in a host of new ways to a whole range of products.
