Swire Hotels’ newest baby is set to open in Shanghai later in April, and, having had a sneaky tour of the work-in-progress in March, we can firmly say that it’s going to be another winner for the group’s House Collective (in case you didn’t already know, these are the guys responsible for The Upper House, The Opposite House and The Temple House). The Middle House features 111 hotel rooms with interiors by Italian designer Piero Lissoni, who was also responsible for The Middle House’s 102 serviced apartments and residences.

The rooms and residences have a typically simple, home-y feel that still manages to feel elegant. They are sleek and calm in black and white, with touches of raw wood and pops of colour (blue in particular).
