GET THE LOOK: WEWORK WEIHAI LU
Anyone who’s visited or worked out of a co-working space will know that they have a dynamic, exciting energy about them – and many of them also present a vibrant style that’s all about getting you in the mood for work. WeWork has nailed the inspiring, focus-boosting look, and we particularly love their Weihai Lu space in Shanghai.
Designed by the highly talented Shanghai-based studio Linehouse, WeWork Weihai Lu is made up of a mix of spaces designed for different activities, all laid out in a combination of materials that includes wood and brass, linear and round forms and soft, sorbet shades with the odd pop of bright colour. We’d work here in a heartbeat.
Sadly that’s not an option for most of us, so we’ve come up with the next best thing: everything you need to recreate this look in your home office. Granted, you won’t experience the community spirit WeWork is all about, but, with these tools, you should be able to create a space that will inspire you to do your admin, write that paper, or just get sh*t done in.
The main ingredients of this look are a wooden table or desk, preferably in a light-to-warm oak, a rug in hues of mint green, sky blue, dove grey and Millennial Pink, and a comfortable chair you can sit in for a decent amount of time. Also essential in any home office is a task light; you need to be able to see what you’re doing, after all.
Bring in a dash of bright colour – turquoise, teal, even hot pink – through art, a side table, a stool or a task light. Keep shapes simple, with clean lines and simple patterns (or none), and stick to that predominantly soft colour palette. Essentially, this is the Scandi look with a twist. Here’s how we suggest you bring it home….
