HALCYON HOUSE
Halcyon House, a boutique hotel on Australia's Cabarita Beach, has fast emerged as a destination as famous for its design as it is for its sense of escape. The work of interior designer Anna Spiro, the former surf motel was revamped in 2015 and has won plaudits from everyone from Vogue to Conde Nast Traveller who all praise its wonderfully nostalgic, laid back chic. Loved for its highly distinctive, eclectic interiors, the hotel with its 21 unique rooms and suites is a showcase for print, natural materials and a fabulously maximalist approach. Featuring masses of bright, cobalt blue, this is a look that is all about the layers. Spiro mixes rattan lampbases with printed shades, cleverly clashing patterns on printed sofas, assorted artworks on busy walls and upholstered beds with wallpaper to bring together a look that is relaxed, unfussy and reminiscent of luxurious summer stays gone by.
Below, we have brought you an edit of key pieces to help you create this look at home. Featuring plenty of that blue, it's also about rattan and wicker elements, cleverly chosen artwork and little bits and bobs that come together to create a look in your home that is as authentic as it is beautiful. As summer approaches, these tiny touches should freshen up your space. Until we can all get away to the real deal, it's not a bad place to start.
