Offering a fantastic round-up of contemporary, design-focused brands, UK-based Nest presents iconic chairs from Fritz Hansen and 20th-century classics from Vitra, alongside folksy textiles from SCP and contemporary crystal lights from Lee Broom.

Based in Hong Kong, Eclectic Cool has a physical presence in Wanchai and an online store – both of which offer a wide variety of brands, many of them Australian or Scandinavia. The collection is curated by Joanne Pereira, an Australian designer with an eye for minimal pieces from the likes of Muuto and Hay as well as quirky, colourful items from brands like Dinosaur Designs.

For those with a penchant for the offbeat, Anthropologie is the place to go. Alongside clothes, the site provides a haven for pretty home accessories such as rugs, candles, mirrors and decorations – many of them created by artisans from around the world.

This site is chock-full of designs from all the best Nordic brands, with an inventory that includes glassware from Iittala, textiles from Ferm Living, lights from Gubi and tableware from Marimekko. Delivery is generally by DHL Parcel; faster delivery, by UPS Express, available for certain countries.

With its boho, hippy vibe, Urban Outfitters is the ultimate site for the free spirited. Think dreamcatchers, tribal prints, mandalas and sheepskin cushions... it's all there, alongside the brand's clothing and accessories offerings. 

You’ll find a mix of the kitsch and the cool, the gimmicky and the practical at the online store of New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). The eclectic offering includes some real gems among the oddities – like the Man Ray Chess Set. Buying from the MoMA Store is a perfect way to bring art into the home without blowing your budget, with everything from coffee-table books to tableware to furniture. 

Spearheaded by designer Kiesly Tsang, Design 1 + 1 promotes Hong Kong designers, as well as selling a selection of international products. Here, you’ll find an edited collection of chairs, lighting, stationery, homewares, and even sunglasses and bags. A newbie to the market, having launched in 2015, this is one site to watch.

Based out of Hong Kong, iDecorate’s mission is to deliver “affordable luxury for everyday living.” Its offering is clean, fresh, and just a little bit quirky, with items ranging from graphically modern tableware and copper-edged glasses to trunks and elegant, Scandinavian furniture. There is a kid’s section, art for your walls, and even ideas for creating an outdoor living room.

For lovers of boho chic, Thorn & Burrow is a brilliant starting point right here in Hong Kong. Its African Juhu hats are a runaway success with shoppers, and it also stocks antique-y Chinese daybeds, Moroccan leather poufs and Turkish towels. Mix and match pattern, print and country of origin for a vibrant, many layered look.
